EMICS life-saving in Loughborough
A volunteer emergency doctor from East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) attended an incident in Loughborough, Leicestershire at 06.10 hrs this morning (Friday 25th November) involving a lorry and 2 cars in a head on collision.
Dr Nick Foster, who is a general practitioner in practice at Kegworth and one of the most experienced doctors in EMICS, attended the collision which occurred on the A512 near to the Link Hotel at the junction of the Old and the New Ashby Road. The A512 was closed to enable crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to extricate a trapped passenger in the rear of one of the cars. It took 45 minutes to release the trapped casualty. Dr Foster was able to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) crew in safely extricating the casualty. The road reopened at around 9 o’clock this morning.
A total of 4 casualties were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary by road ambulance(s) from the accident. All 4 casualties are reported to be in a stable condition.
