SARS doctor aids teenager in agony

Volunteer SARS doctor, Andy Mason, was called out to assist the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) with the management of a 16-year-old motorcyclist who had collided with one vehicle before being struck by another on the A143 at Great Barton in Suffolk. Paramedics were having difficulty in gaining intravenous access for the administration of painkilling medication, but Dr Mason was able to administer powerful pain killers as a spray in to the nose with very good effect. The casualty was then transferred in a stable condition to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds with fractures to his arm and leg. His father had arrived at the scene during treatment and was very grateful for the care given to his son by SARS and EEAST personnel.
