Octogenarian trapped under van

At 1010 on Sat. 28th January a lady in her mid-80's was knocked down & run over by a delivery van reversing up an alleyway in the middle of Keswick, Cumbria. She was trapped under the vehicle with head, chest, pelvic & leg injuries. BASICS Penrith Doctor Theo Weston attended as he was in Keswick at the time followed by BASICS Keswick Doctor Tim Hooper, followed shortly after that by one of the helicopters from GNAAS, which also had a doctor on board. After approx 3/4hr the Fire Service raised the vehicle enough to allow the lady to be extricated. She was then reassessed & was anaesthetised at the scene due to the severity of her injuries before being flown to the RVI in Newcastle. Latest reports today are that she has been to theatre to have her fractures pinned and is still in a stable but critical condition on ITU.
