Man in Machine meets MAGPAS
At 10:13 26th May, Magpas Helimedix (Volunteer Doctor Jon Birks and Volunteer Paramedic Carl Smith) arrived at a factory in Huntingdon via the Elms BMW rapid response car, after a man’s hand got caught in some machinery. The Magpas team gave the male patient (who is in his 30’s) a local anaesthetic, to numb the nerves in his hand - giving him critical A&E treatment (which a standard Ambulance Crew cannot provide). They subsequently accompanied him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a Land Ambulance, where on arrival his condition was stable. He was then taken into theatre as soon as possible. An EEAST Ambulance Crew was also on the scene and everyone worked extremely well together.
