BEARS called to Road Traffic Crash at Cressing

BEARAt 07.20 hours on Tuesday 10th January BEARS were called out by East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust to a road traffic Crash involving a motor cyclist.

 

Dr Ian Gibson who lives in Panfield near Braintree was dispatched to the incident arriving on scene at 07.35hrs. On his arrival Dr Gibson found a single patient with serious injuries. Along with the ambulance crew on scene he cleared and stabilised the patients airway enabling them to breathe better. Due to the serious injuries found the Air Ambulance was requested.

 

The Ambulance crew and Dr Gibson continued to provide stabilising treatment for the patient by applying a traction splint to their leg as well as continuing to maintain the patients airway and breathing function.

 

On arrival of the air ambulance the patient was anaesthetised and their chest injuries further stabilised before being loaded into the helicopter and taken to Addenbrookes hospital

 

BEARS is a new charity in Essex formed from the merger of North East Essex Doctors Emergency Service (NEEDES) and Mid Essex Doctors Immediate Care scheme (MEDICS). The scheme is called out by The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust to patients that need an enhanced level of care following serious injury or illness. All the members are volunteer Doctors and Paramedics who have undergone additional training in Immediate Medical Care. Each member is equipped purely through donations at a cost of between £20-25,000.
