BEARS called to Ambulance Accident
The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust called out BEARS on 27th January at 1024 hours to an accident involving an ambulance in Danbury.
Dr Ian Gibson from Braintree was activated to the incident where the ambulance had reportedly rolled onto its side while on route to hospital with a patient under emergency conditions.
On his arrival Dr Gibson worked with the air ambulance crew plus land crews to assess the patients before all were taken by road to Broomfield hospital.
BEARS is a new charity in Essex formed from the merger of North East Essex Doctors Emergency Service (NEEDES) and Mid Essex Doctors Immediate Care scheme (MEDICS). T he scheme is called out by The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust to patients that need an enhanced level of care following serious injury or illness. All the members are volunteer Doctors and Paramedics who have undergone additional training in Immediate Medical Care. Each member is equipped purely through donations at a cost of between £20-25,000.
