TACTICS rescue from between a rock and a hard place

At 3.15pm this afternoon, two casualties were trapped in their car after being involved in a collision with a tanker. Extrication was hampered as the vehicle was pinned between the tanker and a wall giving the ambulance, air ambulance, a doctor from TACTICS (North/East Devon’s voluntary BASICS Scheme) and the Fire & Rescue service a challenging rescue. Fortunately the injuries did not appear serious so the emergency services could plan the work carefully which led to the safe release of driver and passenger neither of which appeared to have any life threatening injuries. Both casualties were transported to hospital, one via the air ambulance after the lengthy procedure.

A Sky news reporter was flying with the air ambulance and it is understood that it may be part of a documentary in due course.
