Serious crash on A591 attended by BASICS
Two people are in hospital in a serious condition after a crash on the A591 near St John's in the Vale, Keswick, last night.
The crash, which happened around 6.45pm, involved a black Kia travelling towards Keswick on the A591.
The car lost control on a bend just before the dual carriageway and collided with a stone wall.
The female driver of the car managed to get out of the vehicle, but the front seat passenger was trapped and had to be cut out by the fire service. During the extrication the passenger was treated by BASICS doctor Tim Hooper and North West Ambulance Service paramedics.
The driver and passenger, both believed to be from the Nethertown area, were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, where their condition was described as serious.
The road was closed for around four hours to allow emergency services access and evidence gathering from the scene.
