07.02.11 RTC for LIVES

Lincolnshire was the scene of another road traffic accident Tuesday 7th February 2011.  LIVES clinical director Dr Yvonne Owen and Mr Dan Skarratts formed the LIVES medical response activated by Lincoln’s Emergency Operations Centre to the incident on the A155, between Revesby and Coningsby.  Working in partnership with crews from the East Midlands Ambulance Service, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and the Police they were able to assist in the management and extrication of a casualty whose vehicle had hit a tree resulting in the patient being trapped and sustaining a serious head injury.

Following extrication the patient was transported urgently by land to nearby Boston Pilgrim Hospital with his treatment ongoing.

LIVES is the Lincolnshire based BASICS scheme working in partnership with the East Midlands Ambulance Service to provide high quality pre hospital care to the people of Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas.
