Tragic accident near Newmarket

 

A YOUNG child has died following a serious accident this evening which left two others in hospital.

The tragic incident happened just after 7.10pm today when a black Jaguar and a white Renault Clio collided on the B1063, Newmarket Road, between Cheveley and Ashley, near Newmarket.

A man, believed to be the father of the child, was trapped in the car but eventually freed.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with multiple serious injuries, which required the BASICS doctor to travel with him in the ambulance.

The other driver was also taken to the same hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police, which attended the incident, said: “Both drivers were taken to Addenbrooke’s for treatment.However a young child was pronounced dead at the scene.”
