M25 major accident

The M25 in Kent was closed on the 16th April for several hours after a seven-vehicle incident including an HGV left one woman dead, 2 critically injured and several seriously injured. Both of the critically injured patients were taken to the Royal London Hospital by road for further treatment of their multiple traumatic injuries.

The BASICS response included SIMCAS (The South East Coast Immediate Care Scheme) nurse Bob Sheridan and Dr John Chatterjee who worked alongside their  colleagues from the London and Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance  services (who all responded by car due to the volcanic ash grounding their aircraft) and the well organised SECAMB (South East Coast Ambulance Service) response. Dr Chatterjee said "It was a huge accident and I glad the whole team worked so well to get everyone out alive"

The South East Coast Immediate Care Scheme (SIMCAS) has been active for over 20 years and is an Emergency Care Charity who provide fully equipped and experienced doctors and nurses at the scene of an accident or emergency when requested by the Fire, Police or Ambulance Services.
