LIVES at A158 multiple casualty incident
Lincolnshire was the scene of another multiple road traffic accident this Monday 16th August. Dr Matt Woods and paramedic Richard MacDonald formed the LIVES medical response to the incident at a notorious black spot on the A158 North East of Lincoln city. Working closely with personnel from the East Midlands Ambulance Service, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance as well as fire and rescue and police they were able to triage, assess and treat eleven casualties in total. Two children were evacuated by Dr Woods to hospital with severe injuries, the first a six year old boy was airlifted to nearby Lincoln County Hospital, whilst a second was taken directly by land ambulance. Only one adult required immediate evacuation to hospital.
Dr Woods said "This red route road is noted for its treacherous bends, it is fortunate looking at the wreckage and injuries that a fatality hasn't occurred".
