26.02.2010 A49 Leominster crash attended by BASICS

 

AN elderly couple were taken to hospital today after their car ended up on its side along a busy main road in Herefordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A49 Leominster by-pass near Enterprise Park, shortly before 3.40pm.

With reports of two people in trapped in an overturned car, the Midlands Air Ambulances from Strensham and Cosford in Shropshire were sent to the scene, along with a rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew and BASICS Doctor.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a car on its side in a ditch between the A49 and the railway line that runs parallel to the road at that point.

“The male driver, a man in his seventies, had a fractured right arm and cuts. He was flown to Hereford County Hospital.

“His passenger, a woman in her seventies, had minor injuries and was taken by land ambulance to the same hospital.”
