17.08.2010 Bures Train Crash

Dr Jeremy Mauger, Chairman of Suffolk Accident Rescue Service received a text message about a train colliding with a tanker at 17.41 hours on 17 August following a 999 call to the Ambulance Services at 17.38 hours.  He arrived at the scene at 18.07, arriving after an RRV ambulance and the Essex Air Ambulance with two doctors: Dr Adam Chesters, who was MIO, and a colleague.

A number of casualties walked off the train.  There were four casualties in the train, and some uninjured passengers. 

A MAGPAS EMT arrived on the police helicopter. 

A CCS was set up with the Ambulance Service.  One person was airlifted to Colchester Hospital in the Essex Air Ambulance, and Dr Mauger accompanied one patient to Addenbrookes Hospital in the police helicopter.  The Essex Air Ambulance then took a second patient to Addenbrookes.Hospital.    One patient was taken by road to West Suffolk Hospital and the remaining patients were taken by road to Colchester Hospital
