2 vehicle head on crash for North Wales Emergency Doctor Service

The incident occurred on 5th February at 22:10hrs near Pentraeth, Anglesey.  2 vehicles were involved in a head on crash.  One car had 3 passengers, the driver and rear passenger were trapped, but the front passenger was evacuated easily and sent to hospital with limb and chest injuries.  The car had to be cut to release the remaining casualties.  The driver was certified dead at the scene by Dr Suman Mitra, Chairman of the North Wales Emergency Doctor Service.  The rear passenger had a femur fracture, wrist fracture and suspected spine injury.  Ketamine was given for pain relief before this casualty could be boarded for extraction.  Following extrication the patient was transported to Ysbyty Gwynedd Emergency department.

The passengers and driver from the other car self extracted, and were examined by Dr Mitra, who confirmed that they had no life threatening injuries.

Alongside the Paramedics, Fire and Rescue and the Police, Dr Mitra was the only Doctor at the scene.
