April 2009 - New Years Honour for Military Trauma Expert

BASICS is pleased to congratulate Professor Colonel Tim Hodgetts QHP OStJ MMEd MB BS FRCP FRCSEd FFAEM FIMC FRGS L/RAMC SME BCDT on his award as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Professor HodgettsColonel Tim Hodgetts is Defence Consultant Adviser in Emergency Medicine, Honorary Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Birmingham, and Assistant Director of Clinical Services at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine. He is responsible for national and international training programmes in pre-hospital care, major trauma, and multiple casualty management in countries including UK, Australia, India, Netherlands, Italy, Cyprus and Sweden. He has developed an evidence-based clinical effectiveness programme for in-hospital cardiac arrest prevention. His publications include 16 books and a series of educational award-winning videos. He was awarded OStJ for services to medical education and humanity in 1999, Mitchiner Medal from Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000, and Fellowship without examination from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001.

Professor Hodgetts has been an ardent supporter of BASICS and a regular speaker at the BASICS Conference over many years.
