A399 accident 21.08.09
At around 2pm on Friday 21.08.09, an immediate care doctor from Barrnstaple was mobilised to a critically injured motorcyclist on the A399 from South Molton to Brayford road, some 2.5 miles north of Aller Cross roundabout. The air ambulance and land vehicles were also mobilised to the scene where members of the public were performing CPR while awaiting the emergency services. Resuscitation attempts were discontinued at the scene. There were no other casualties. The immediate care doctor praised the members of the pubic who assisted with bystander CPR in a very professional manner, most of which were holidaymakers arriving in North Devon along this rather tortuous main road. Initial 999 calls were hampered by the poor reception in the vicinity of the accident.
