An Advisory Body

BASICS a key organization that formed the Resuscitation Council UK, it lobbied for the formation of the Faculty of Prehospital Care (RCSEd), and was instrumental in helping develop the role of the Paramedic in the United Kingdom. BASICS has provided information to the Department of Health with regard to the development of GPwSI contracts, the Health Protection Agency with regard to Bird Flu and several of the members of the DOCS group (Medical Directors of Ambulances Services ) are BASICS members.

BASICS provides:

 

  • advice to its members regarding the operation of immediate care schemes and the role that they perform
  • recommendations to Parliament and Government with regard to pre-hospital care related issues
  • opinions to Royal Colleges and other bodies on the development of pre-hospital care
  • guidance to developing organizations in other countries on how to create Immediate Care schemes
